Chiron in 7th House: Natal, Synastry, Return
Chiron, the “wounded healer,” is an asteroid in your birth chart that shows your deepest wounds. Here’s what it means when Chiron is in the 7th House.
What Is Chiron?
First of all, Chiron is not a planet like Saturn or Jupiter. This small part of our birth chart is symbolic of an asteroid and it represents our biggest insecurities and fears—the ones we develop from childhood.
In Greek mythology, Chiron was a half-man, half-centaur who was extremely skilled in medicine. He had a natural talent for healing—and even did so after taking a hit from a poisonous arrow. He could heal others and not himself, hence his name, the “wounded healer.”
What Does the 7th House Rule?
The 7th House is the section of our chart that dictates long-term relationships, connections, marriage, and partnership.
Chiron in 7th House
When Chiron appears in the 7th House, fear, insecurities, and wounds go hand-in-hand with emotional connections with others.
Natal
When this Chiron placement is in your birth chart, you may feel some sort of toxic attachment to relationships—where you feel you need them, and yet, you are afraid of them. It may be an internal battle to decide how qualified you are to give and receive love.
Depending on what sign your Chiron is in here, it will indicate what part of relationships scare you the most. For example, someone with Chiron in Cancer (i.e. feeling “unlovable”) may manifest as someone who has difficulty being vulnerable, for fear of the rejection they “know” is impending.
Transit
When we experience this in transit, it makes us much more sensitive and/or cautious in our relationships. We may discover that we hold onto our loved ones very tightly during this time—potentially too tightly. And there can be openings for tension, accusations, or arguments.
Synastry
When it comes to synastry in a composite chart, seeing Chiron in the 7th House is always a good sign. This identifies the relationship as one that is extremely healing on the side of the 7th House person. The Chiron person is likely to express themselves in such a way that the 7th House person feels comfortable being vulnerable with them.
Return
A Chiron return just means that Chiron returns to the same place it was when you were born. So, if you experience a Chiron return in the 7th House, it means your natal Chiron is also in the 7th House. Refer to the description above.
In the Signs
Chiron in Aries
Chiron in Aries represents a fear or insecurity of being worthless and unrecognized. This is the sign of ego, so, in Chiron it indicates that our ego has been squashed. In the 7th House, it indicates that you may “lose yourself” in relationships.
Chiron in Taurus
Chiron in Taurus represents a fear or insecurity of loss. Always afraid to lose something in the world—whether it be money, home, or career—this sign can’t get over the sense that they can’t get too comfortable. In relationships, this manifests itself into a person who constantly walks on eggshells around relationships and isn’t willing to share. For example, this person would insist on a prenup out of sheer fear.
Chiron in Cancer
Chiron in Cancer represents a fear or insecurity of being unlovable. This person may fear that no one will ever nurture them the way they do others. In the 7th House, this is exacerbated in all their relationships. And this person may continuously choose people who don’t value them for the love they bring.
Chiron in Leo
Chiron in Leo represents a fear or insecurity of self-acceptance and personal pride. Leo loves to shine, but when it’s in Chiron, it indicates someone who doesn’t feel “good enough” to shine. They may hide in their shell, withholding their greatness for fear of hearing that they aren’t worthwhile. In the 7th House, this person will tend to pick others who shine over them. Lack of self-worth in relationships is big for them.
Chiron in Virgo
Chiron in Virgo represents a fear or insecurity of feeling incomplete. This person will go above and beyond to help make others feel whole and perfect, but they lack this in themselves. It’s especially true in the 7th House of relationships, as this person tends to pick fixer-uppers.
Chiron in Libra
Chiron in Libra represents a fear or insecurity of being around others you are not familiar with. This is the sign of partnership, so they always need “someone” around. In the 7th House, this is exacerbated to the max and this person can become a serial dater because of it.
Chiron in Scorpio
Chiron in Scorpio represents a fear or insecurity of control (or lack thereof, I should say). In the 7th House, this can indicate an inclination toward abusive relationships—whether emotionally, verbally, or physically.
Chiron in Capricorn
Chiron in Capricorn represents a fear or insecurity of professional success and recognition. In the 7th House, it can indicate someone who needs to feel wholly admired by their significant other. They may feel they need to be the “breadwinner” or the person who brings in the most money to stabilize the partnership.
Chiron in Aquarius
Chiron in Aquarius represents a fear or insecurity of being an outcast. Even though Aquarius is all about individualism, the thing with this sign is that it rules the 11th House of community. So, no matter what Aquarius says, they secretly long to fit in. In the 7th House, this means they want their partner to love them not in spite of, but because of their flaws or unique traits.
Chiron in Pisces
Chiron in Pisces represents a fear or insecurity of pain. Because you don’t want to feel pain, you may end up playing “the victim” half the time. This placement in the 7th House can mean the person goes above and beyond to “heal” or work on the relationship so that the pain of its ending never comes.
