Psychic Meaning & Types of Psychics
According to Merriam-Webster, the word psychic is defined as: "Of or relating to nonphysical or supernatural forces and influences: marked by extraordinary or mysterious sensitivity, perception, or understanding."
This reference to nonphysical or supernatural is essentially energy. Psychics have a natural ability—which can be trained and developed—to "read" the energy surrounding an individual, object, or space, living or inanimate. Just as there are those born with an incredible talent for sports or mathematics, there are others born with an incredible talent to tap into the unseen.
Energy is omnipresent and is not confined by our sense of time—this is how a psychic can tap into the past, present, and future. According to Albert Einstein, "Everything is energy and that's all there is to it." This energy can be seen, heard, felt, or simply known, and a psychic may choose to employ different divinatory tools and practices to conduct a session.
When to See a Psychic, Medium, or Intuitive
Psychic
If you are seeking guidance in regard to your current life path, seeing a psychic can provide you with some much-needed clarity. A good psychic will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, and empower you to take responsibility for your life and energy so you can move toward your personal goals. See a psychic when you are ready to explore the different paths that lie ahead of you, and if you are ready to own your fate and steer your destiny. If a psychic tells you that you are cursed, or that they can make your ex come back with magic for a large sum of money, run far, far away. These types of psychics may have spiritual gifts, but they are using them to exploit you in your most vulnerable moments.
Medium
If you want to connect to a loved one in spirit, see a medium. Psychic information may come through—all mediums have psychic abilities—but medium's main focus and intention is to communicate with the other side. If you need closure, if you wish you could have said one last thing, a medium could help you pass that message along. If you want to know if your loved one was around you, watching over you, a medium may help to validate their presence. An evidential medium will relay personal information and special memories connected to the spirit and the client in order to confirm that they are making the right connection. Know that you have the ability to communicate with your loved ones on the other side—but help from a medium can be a wonderful way to strengthen your own confidence and belief in the spirit world.
Intuitive
The word intuitive is often interchanged with the word psychic. Intuition speaks to the inner knowing. Intuition is used by many professionals who are open to the world of energy. If you are seeking a more spiritual professional, you may want to find an intuitive therapist, intuitive masseuse, intuitive yoga teacher, intuitive holistic healer, etc. These types of practitioners acknowledge the power of intuition and use it in their respective fields. Instead of following the same protocol for each client, they will use their intuition to guide you—and to guide themselves in how to best work with you.
