Weekly Finstrology Update for March 18: Spring, Fed and Gann Mash-Up
All times Eastern
Wednesday, March 20, is flashing in neon lights for attention. The sun enters Aries, where it is exalted, on Tuesday at 11:06 p.m., marking the spring equinox and the start of the astrological year. That makes it one of the 10 days each year that legendary trader W.D. Gann earmarked for a potential change of trend. And, arguably, it is among the top four because it is a change of season.
That alone could be enough to make March 20 a day to watch. But, the day also features an announcement from the Fed at 2 p.m. on what it will have decided to do about interest rates after its two-day meeting. Current expectations are for rates to remain unchanged. But, given that the sun is newly in its most favorite sign of Aries, the Fed could make a particularly bold move by cutting rates earlier than expected or making the completely unexpected move of raising them again.
Both the Nasdaq-100 and S&P 500 could make highs (and potentially new record highs) going into the Fed announcement. On Tuesday, the sun makes a partile conjunction with the Nasdaq-100’s sensitive Venus/Mars conjunction at 29 degrees Pisces, with the moon trining those same two first-trade planets and forming a grand trine with natal Saturn. On Wednesday, Mercury is in the same degree as the S&P 500’s first-trade moon, while transiting Venus and Saturn are aligned with the first-trade sun.
The week ends on a financially tense note as money planet Venus squares restrictive Saturn on Thursday night. So, expect negotiations and votes to authorize a second tranche of funding to prevent a government shutdown to go down to the wire.
Markets on the Move
ABNB Airbnb, Inc.
Privacy wins as Airbnb announced that indoor security cameras will be banned at all hosting locations effective April 30. The company, which boasts more than 5 million hosts and more than 1.5 billion guest arrivals in almost every country in the world, had previously allowed indoor security cameras in common living areas (living rooms, hallways, etc.) as long as they were disclosed before booking and clearly visible to the guest.
The new policy also applies to outdoor security cameras in areas with an expectation of privacy, such as an enclosed outdoor shower or sauna. Hosts also must disclose the presence of noise decibel monitors in common spaces, typically in place to monitor unauthorized parties.
Founded in 2007, the company was incorporated in Delaware in 2008 and listed its stock on December 10, 2020. On April 8, look for a significant price low as the total solar eclipse’s new moon at 19 Aries is exactly conjunct the stock’s Mars and square to its first-trade sun. Another low could occur a month later, on May 8, when the sun, moon, Jupiter, and Uranus all oppose first-trade Venus and trine a Capricorn stellium of Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto.
Watch for a potential price high on April 3 when the transiting sun conjoins first-trade Mars while Mars and Saturn square first-trade Mercury. On April 26, another high could occur with three conjunctions in play—moon to natal Venus, sun to natal Uranus, and Mercury to natal Mars. On May 14, lots of trines in the transit-to-natal chart could bring a high in price. Four financial heavyweights—transiting sun, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus—are opposite first-trade Venus and trine to the outer-planet stellium. The transiting moon forms a grand trine with Mars, Mercury and the sun, with Mars also trine Mercury.
